We are a social enterprise!
We are a company who cares about the community around us. A company that has a purpose other than making profit in our activities. We are non-profit. We run a fully accessible community venue and use storytelling, puppetry and arts workshops to encourage confidence and communication in children and adults.
Our workshops are open to all, but we have a specific mission to reach children and families that are disabled, neurodiverse, marginalised or terminally ill with the aim of improving well-being and encouraging communication.
We run family workshops and we sell puppets and puppet-related things. ALL the money that we make goes straight back into The Puppet Tree to help us fulfil our mission.
The funds raised help us to continue this important work in the community. Without the enthusiasm and generous help of our donors and sponsors we would not succeed in our mission.
What do we spend the money on?
These funds also help us to keep the costs of the workshops at a price point that all families can afford. That’s really important to us. It also allows us to put on family events in our community and to keep our art spaces, Spin-a-Story corner and our Imaginarium theatre available to you all.
It takes a lot to keep our public spaces open and to pay our bills. We also have general maintenance of the buildings, safety insurance should you trip or bump yourself, cleaning, tidying, and purchasing all the wonderful materials you can use to make the puppets from the puppet kits. We need to restock the shop, and sometimes need to pay for extra staff when we’re busy, and lots of general running costs but we don’t want to send you to sleep!
When covid struck we managed to survive. Then Brexit hit us and our European supply chains dried up. We had to evolve, quickly! We’re still standing but we need your support to make sure we can recover.
Every little helps.
